Song Review: How Would You Like It

Lauren Aquilina’s music is emotionally raw and was once described as being “depressing but in a good way.”  Her debut album “Isn’t  It Strange” is released on the the 26th August.

Lauren wrote “How Would You Like It” when she was feeling heart broken and accompanied the release with the line “he kissed some else.” As you can imagine then “How Would You Like It” is a melancholy ballad

The clean and simplistic style of the piano led melody gives way to a greater focus to the emotive lyrics and vocals that are simply stunning and will leave you with goosebumps.

Here’s the absolutely breath taking “break- up anthem” played live at Abbey Road Studios.

Did you know that Lauren played alongside Taylor Swift at Hyde Park in London last summer? She even did a cover of ‘Time To Say Goodbye’ that featured on the trailer for the final season of Downtown Abbey.

Song Review: Fake It

“Fake It” is the latest track to released from Bastille‘s eagerly anticipated second album Wild World. The song is opened with a movie dialogue sequence that sets the scene and adds a layer of depth giving ‘Fake It’ a more well-rounded feel.

“Fake It” takes inspiration from a variety of music genres that are then layered together making it difficult to pigeon-hole including somber pop beats, hip hop influences and R+B falsetto sighs that give the song a sultry feel.

A strong drum beat and percussion bring depth and intrigue to this  emotional song melded with distinctive melancholy lyrics from frontman Dan Smith.

Filled with catchy lyrics and experimental synth sounds, Bastille definitely don’t need to try their “very best to fake it” as this track has it all.
